Weight Loss for Golf - a lesson from The Three Little Pigs
The planets aligned yesterday ...
First, I had a quick nutrition-coaching chat with a new client ...
Then I talked to a golf pro / friend of mine about a mutual client, which the ended in us ranting about terrible 'nutrition marketing' by companies like Kelloggs ...(such a scam!)
And later ...
I read a copy of The Three Little Pigs to my kids before they went to sleep.
(my wife found it at the op shop ...pretty aggressive ending for the little ones but they seemed OK ...?)
And within those three events lies:
Today's Fundamental Lesson on nutrition which if applied consistently will skyrocket your health, fitness, injury prevention & weight loss results ...
A big claim ?
You'll see ...
As you know the three little pigs are all building houses ...
One collects sticks as the material. The next one straw. And the smart one, a pile of bricks.
Spoiler alert ...!!
The houses made of straw and sticks get blown in by the wolf.
And all the little pigs end up together in the strong, stable, well built brick house ...
The wolf has no hope.
(Then the wolf gets cooked in the soup pot ...nasty! anywho ...)
Here is the metaphor / Fundamental Lesson that jumped out at me:
Everyday, with everything that goes into your mouth, you are building your 'house' (your body).
Your body takes the food and drink that you put into it, and builds a new body, new tissue, new EVERYTHING ...
You are what you eat. Literally.
And here's what happens:
If you keep building your house out of straw or sticks (crappy cereal, muffins, cakes, deep fried foods, white bread, sugary drinks, processed junk) ...
Two things are likely to happen:
1- The wolf, aka an injury, is far more likely to be able to damage your flimsy dwelling (muscles, ligaments, joints etc) and stop you playing golf.
2- Your body will keep asking for more straw or sticks (i.e. it will get hungry and crave more calories) because it knows it needs to protect itself from the wolf, but there isn't enough substance to the straw or sticks (they lack nutrients ...)
The equivalent of bricks ...?
Curb your hunger by giving your body what it NEEDS and build your house out of these:
... vegetables, nuts, seeds, vegetables, free range organic eggs, fruit, free range organic meat, clean water, healthy fats -- butter, coconut oil, olive oil, vegetables ...
Oh, did I mention vegetables ...?
